A toned, flat abdomen can be a subtle yet striking affirmation of an active, healthy lifestyle. But even with a proper diet and regular exercise, your stomach may look soft and flabby. The effects of age, weight changes, and pregnancy are common reasons why people considering abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) in Orlando come in to see Dr. Michael Diaz. Your Beautiful Body
When regular exercise, outdoor activities, and eating right are a natural part of your life, you want it to show. People visiting Dr. Diaz at his practice near Orlando for a tummy tuck can benefit by:
- Removing excess loose skin from the abdomen
- Tightening stretched or separated abdominal muscles
- Improving the curvature of the waist
- Enhancing the appearance of the belly button
- Revising the results of a previous tummy tuck such as improving the appearance of the scar and belly button
A tummy tuck can be combined with liposuction to help further improve the appearance of your sides and better define your waist. Some patients may benefit from a less invasive procedure called a mini-abdominoplasty which usually involves shorter incisions and operative time.
Because Dr. Diaz also specializes in breast enhancement, many women combine a tummy tuck with procedures like breast augmentation or a breast lift for a Mommy Makeover. Both your appearance and self-confidence can be renewed with this customized combination of procedures.

Dr. Diaz not only helped renew my self esteem in my marriage, but totally restored my confidence in the workplace. I feel so much better in all aspects of my daily life."
What to Expect
Dr. Diaz wants his patients to always have the best quality care. In order to provide this level of care, abdominoplasty surgery is usually performed in the surgical center under general anesthesia. We ask you to bring underwear that ideally you would like to cover the scar with. Although no scar positioning can be guaranteed, Dr. Diaz will use your underwear to help design your surgery.
The procedure usually lasts 2 to 3 hours and longer if liposuction or breast enhancement is also performed. The surgery begins with an incision on the lower abdomen that goes from hip to hip. An incision is created around the belly button as well. After the muscles are tightened the excess skin is removed and the incisions are closed. You will be placed in a binder that will help control swelling and provide support. You may have surgical drains that aid in removing accumulated fluid. The night of the surgery Dr. Diaz usually visits you at home. The following morning you will be seen in the office for a dressing change.
Once home, you can be up and about immediately, walking in a slightly bent fashion. It may take a week until you feel comfortable straightening out. Any discomfort you experience can be controlled with the medication Dr. Diaz prescribes. You will be seen daily to change your dressings. The drains will be removed in the office when they are ready to come out, usually in 5 to 7 days. In a week you should be able to return to work depending upon the type of work you do. You should avoid heavy lifting or pushing for 4 to 6 weeks. You should continue to wear your binder for 6 weeks. Full activity may be resumed after 6 weeks.
